A woman from Oshawa has been confirmed dead following a drowning in Lake Ontario yesterday afternoon. She was pulled from the water in the Frenchman's Bay area just after 3:30pm. Police say attempts to save the woman's life were made both at the scene and in hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The woman was in her 30's, and had reportedly went into the water to help her six-year old son who was on a flotation device and drifted too far from shore. The child did not suffer any injuries; police had not released the identity of the deceased woman.
