Whitby Teacher Faces Trial

The sexual assault trial of Thomas Grieve is now underway. The elementary school teacher has pleaded not guilty to a 30-count indictment alleging he committed sexual assault and sexual interference against 15 children over a span of eight years through his roles as a teacher and coach. The 40-year old taught Grade 6 at Robert Munsch Public School in Whitby from 2011-2018 and E.A. Fairman Public School in Whitby prior to that. Grieve was also a volleyball coach and taught summer and night school courses. 14 complainants and four other witnesses are expected to give testimony at the trial as part of the Crown’s case. The charges against Grieve have not been proven.
