Whitby May Pass On Private-Retail Cannabis

The Town of Whitby appears to be opposed to the opening of local, privately-owned cannabis stores. At a committee of the whole meeting this week, members voted 6-3 against allowing private retail locations within the town's boundaries. Mayor Don Mitchell says the provincial regulatory model falls beneath community standards. Most of Whitby's neighbouring municipalities have voted in favour of allowing retail cannabis locations.
