The Township of Uxbridge is responding to the increasing correspondence from residents concerned about speeding. The Township has set up a sub-committee to look into traffic calming on roads in the township. As it stands under provincial law all urban streets are 50 km/hr unless otherwise posted, with those outside the town proper 80 km/hr unless otherwise posted. Ward 5 councillor Todd Snooks says one idea being considered is applying to drop unposted speed limits. The sub-committee is talking with Durham Regional Police Services as it reviews speeds saying that safety is the number one priority.
