Romaine Lettuce Warning

The Public Health Agency of Canada reminds everyone in Ontario to not eat romaine lettuce because a strain of e-coli bacteria has been found. It is the same strain that caused an outbreak last year. Officials are unsure of the source. Christian Pritchard, Executive Chef for Aurora Foods who is a regular contributor on the Morning Den here on 105.5 Hits FM, says this is not something we can wash away, but he says it's good practice to make sure you wash fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. Pritchard says incidents like this one with romaine lettuce shows us the importance of being able to buy local when we can.
