Revisions To Police Budget Expected

Durham Region Police Services say the proposed police budget for 2020 will undergo revisions after the Region set a budget target of 3.2%. The DRPS has submitted an initial 2020 budget that would require an increase just over 7%. This first draft included the provision for 20 new frontline police officers and 17 other policing personnel. The Region’s finance committee recently laid out the guidelines, calling for a 3.2% increase, however, the committee didn’t completely shut the door on adding new frontline officers and was willing to consider it.
