Oshawa GM Plant Expected To Close

Numerous sources are saying General Motors is making plans to close all of its operations in Oshawa. According to reports, the closures are part of a global restructuring that focuses on a move towards lower-emission vehicles. Unifor, which represents the workers, says it has been informed that there is no product allocated to the Oshawa assembly plant past December of 2019, and it will provide further comment after meeting with General Motors. The plant currently employs about 2,500 unionized workers and 300 salaried employees.
