Reports of an online threat that was made towards a high school in Whitby on social media on Wednesday night are being investigated by Durham Regional Police. Officers were sent to Father Leo J. Austin Catholic Secondary School as a precaution yesterday morning. Police say the nature of the threat was believed to be related to a possible shooting. There were no reported incidents during the day, and officials say there is no need for students or staff to avoid the school at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
