New Mayor And Council Sworn In

It was busy week for the new Mayor of the Township of Uxbridge. Dave Barton was sworn in as Mayor and one of the two representatives at Durham Regional Council along with Regional councilor Gordon Highet. The new Mayor announced his appointments for Township committees. Bruce Garrord has been named chair of the Finance Committee; Willie Popp has been named Chair of Public Works and Active Transportation; Gord Highet returns as Chair of the Planning Committee; Gary Ruona will chair the Environment and the Sustainability Committees; Todd Snooks will head up the Parks Facility and Arena Committee; Pam Beach returns to head up the Tourism-Heritage and Community Programming Committee, and Mayor Barton will chair Administration/Emergency Services and Economic Development Committees. Barton says a lot of thought goes into assigning roles, and council will be active and responsive to questions and concerns.
