Timothy John Mooney appeared via video-link in an Oshawa bail court yesterday afternoon. The 56-year old man was arrested in connection with the death of his 83-year old mother on Mother’s Day. She was found with life-threatening injuries in a third-floor apartment building just after 7pm on Sunday, and was later pronounced dead in hospital. She is Durham Region’s fifth homicide victim of the year. Mooney was arrested shorted after the woman was found and charged with second-degree murder. The charges against him have not been proven. He remains in custody, and his next video appearance is scheduled for Friday.
