The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called to investigate a fatal crash in Whitby. It happened on the eastbound 407 Saturday evening after a Durham Regional Police officer was operating a radar unit and spotted a motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed. The officer followed the motorcycle to an off-ramp where it crashed; the driver, a 28-year old man, died at the scene. A total of five investigators, including two forensic investigators, have been assigned to the case.
