The Ontario Civilian Police Commission advised the Durham Regional Police Services Board on Friday that it will be conducting an investigation into the service and the board under section 25 of the Police Services Act. The Commission has appointed an administrator with promotions and hiring responsibilities, as well as internal and disciplinary matters, public complaints, and secondary employment applications. That administrator is retired Deputy Chief Mike Federico from the Toronto Police Service. Durham Regional Police Services issued a statement over the weekend saying Paul Martin will continue to serve as Chief of Police while the investigation is ongoing.
