More information involving the victim of an apparent homicide in Whitchurch-Stouffville this week has been released. York Regional Police say 22-year old Alex Perlmutter of Sunderland had been accused of stealing three animals from a zoo north of Barrie in June of last year. One of the animals, a gibbon monkey, was found during a raid on a house in Quebec in October. Perlmutter was found dead in the parking lot of Churchill Community Church near Ninth Line and Aurora Road Wednesday afternoon just after 3pm. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say three male suspects were seen fleeing the area in a dark-coloured SUV; investigators are asking anyone with video surveillance footage or dash cam video from the area to contact them.
