A Heat Warning is in effect for much of the province today including all of Durham Region, as significant heat and humidity will arrive today and humidex values of 40 or higher are expected today and tomorrow. Health officials are reminding residents that the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and people working or exercising outdoors. Drivers are being warned to never leave people or pets inside parked vehicles. Environment Canada says a weak cold front should be arriving by Sunday.
