The transition from a women's shelter to a new home can be frightening, but since 2013 a local group has been working to make it easier. Virgina Slike is the coordinator for Durham Basketeers, an organization that puts together laundry hampers filled with useful items to ease the transition to a new home. This Saturday from 9am-1pm they will get together at the Greenbank Community Hall to complete and distribute the hampers to four Durham Region shelters. You can donate to the cause by visiting their web site at www.basketeers.org/chapter/Durham
