Former Mayor To Be Honoured

The name of former Township of Uxbridge Mayor Bob Sheppard will soon adorn one of the trails of the Countryside Preserve. Township council has voted to recognize the former mayor who is currently battling cancer. Mayor Sheppard was heavily involved in environmental efforts while in office. He spearheaded the purchase of the Fields of Uxbridge and was at the helm when Uxbridge was named Trail Capital of Canada. Current Mayor Dave Barton says the former mayor has helped him in is time in office. Signs and possibly a bench will go up at the trail site in the future.
