Firearms Charges For Scugog Suspect

A man from Scugog is in custody after allegedly pointing a firearm at another man during a disturbance in Port Perry last week. On Thursday at around 2:20 in the afternoon, North Division officers were called to a residence on Simcoe St. near Scugog St. During an argument with another man, the suspect pulled out a handgun and allegedly pointed it at the victims head. In a few minutes officers arrived and arrested the 27-year old man at gunpoint; they located a replica handgun loaded with blank rounds. The man was handcuffed and transported to cells in North Division where he began acting aggressively and hitting his head against the wall. When officers tried to move him to a safer location he began kicking, biting, and trying to headbutt officers. The man was taken to Uxbridge Cottage Hospital by ambulance for treatment and a mental health assessment. He is charged with pointing a firearm, dangerous weapons, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, failure to comply with recognizance, and failing to comply with probation.
