Bus Driver Facing Charges

Charges have been laid against the driver involved in Friday morning’s school bus rollover north of Port Hope. It happened just before 8:30 on Cold Springs Camp Rd. north of Ganaraska Rd. when the bus veered off the road and crashed, landing on its side in the ditch. The bus was en route to Orono Public School and was carrying eight children; two of them were taken to hospital with minor injuries, the female driver was also examined as a precaution. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The 48-year old driver from Courtice has been charged with careless driving, failure to properly wear a seat belt, and failure to ensure the accurate completion of a vehicle inspection report.
