It's back-to-school for children across Durham Region this morning, and motorists are being asked to watch for children travelling to school on foot, bicycle, or school bus. Durham Police are reminding drivers to stop for school buses when lights or signals are activated; failing to do so could mean a $490 fine. Officers will be out patrolling school zones for the rest of the week as part of their "In The Zone" campaign; last year, 1,029 tickets were issued for driving offences. Motorists are asked to give themselves extra time, slow down, be patient, and put the phone away.
