Cost: $85
The Uxbridge Historical Centre is proud to host three Fibre Workshops led by Len de Graaf this summer. The series starts with a program that everyone can enjoy: Yarn Painting. This workshop only needs your imagination and the interest to try something new. You don’t need to know how to paint, or work with yarn. Len, an experienced and enthusiastic fibre artist, will show participants a new way of making art with two simple materials: yarn and a beeswax-covered board. Each participant will get a small art board that has been coated with layers of melted beeswax. Then pieces of yarn are chosen to “yarn paint” a beautiful picture by pressing the yarn into the beeswax. Bring in a picture for reference (landscapes or curving images work the best), or you can design your own art piece. Materials are included in workshop fee ($85). New this year: sign up for ALL THREE of Len’s workshops (Yarn Painting on June 15th, Off-Loom Weaving on July 20th, and Needle Felting on August 17th) to receive a $20 discount off the series. You must register for all three at the same time for the discount to apply. Contact the UHC at 905-852-5854 or museum@uxbridge.ca to get started with your registration. These workshops will fill early, so don’t delay! All levels of skill, including beginners, are welcome to our Fibre Workshops. Join us to try something new! -30- Contact Information: Uxbridge Historical Centre 7239 Concession 6, Uxbridge ON 905-852-5854 museum@uxbridge.ca
