A new cell phone tower has gone up alongside Highway Toronto Street to service Rogers cell phone customers. Township of Uxbridge Mayor Dave Barton says this tower and others are under Federal jurisdiction meaning the Municipality has had little say in where they go on private lots. He says he would like to change that and put in more guidelines to get the Township involved.

The Mayor says he and Township staff were only recently told the new tower was going up.

Durham will be hosting a pair of budget open houses in November, with an eye on 2020 and the financial plan for the coming year. You can expect the first session to be held Tuesday Nov 12 in Whitby, and a second will take place the following day in Scugog. Drop-in times for both run from 2-4 PM and 5:30-7 PM, at which point a presentation will take place during which the public will be able to ask questions and give input.

Durham Regional Police say a child in Ajax was taken to hospital after falling from his bike onto a road Wednesday at about 5:30pm near Hickman and Michaelman roads south of Bayly St. E. The bicycle was struck by a vehicle after the boy fell off and it veered into traffic. Police believe the fall may have been caused by a medical episode. His injuries are considered non-life threatening. No charges were laid.
