The city of Whitby will have their flags flying at half-mast for the remainder of the week following the death of their former mayor Marcel Brunelle.
Brunelle spent 24 years on council, including nine as mayor, and died this past weekend at age 75 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
The former Boy Scout leader was a long time Whitby resident, and ran as recently as 2011 before retiring from his political career to battle the disease,
Visitation will be held tomorrow from 5 to 8 p.m. at W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, 110 Dundas St. E., Whitby and Friday, Jan. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. George’s Memorial Anglican Church, 51 Centre. St. E., Oshawa.
The funeral will follow at the same location at 1 p.m.
