Ontario's New Democrats made a move yesterday to block the Liberals introduction of back-to-work legislation that would end the Ontario College Faculty Strike. This means it could take well into next week or longer to get nearly 500,000 affected students back in classrooms. The Government attempted to introduce the legislation yesterday after union members rejected the latest offer by an overwhelming 87% in a forced vote. The NDP say they support the right of college staff to reach a negotiated settlement. Deputy Premier Deb Matthews suggested that it may take a rare weekend sitting of the Legislature to get the bill passed. The Progressive Conservatives are expected to support the legislation's passage.
