With hot and humid conditions continuing early this week, the Durham Regional Health Department is advising residents to take precautions to prevent heat-related illness. Among those most at risk include infants, small children, and the elderly, as well as those with breathing difficulties, heart conditions, or psychiatric illness. Those who exercise or work outdoors should drink plenty of cool liquids to stay hydrated, wear loose-fitting clothing, and take a break every few hours in a cool place.
