A fire broke out at a vacant high school in Oshawa yesterday morning. Crews were called to the former F.J. Donevan Collegiate Institute building after reports of smoke just before 7am. The building is slated for demolition, and had been vacant for several years after closing in 2010 due to low enrollment. Firefighters had the blaze under control quickly. It was determined that the fire began from some debris in the front foyer, although the cause is still being determined.
