A total of seven cocaine overdoses occurred over the weekend, and police are concerned that the substance may have been mixed with another drug, possibly Fentanyl. The first happened around 10pm on Friday in Whitby at the former Cullen Gardens location on Taunton Rd. Three men aged 18-20 went to a gazebo, ingested the substance, and fell to the ground unresponsive; they were rushed to hospital after a friend called 9-11. Three more men ingested cocaine that same night at a residence on Thomas St. in Oshawa, and a seventh man overdosed on Sunday in Oshawa as well. Durham Regional Police Services' Drug Enforcement Unit is investigating the incidents to see if there are any connections.
