Durham Regional Police Services have released the results of a zero-tolerance traffic enforcement campaign coinciding with Canada Road Safety Week, a national initiative aimed at keeping Canada's roads the safest in the world. Emphasis is targeted at the four big killers; impaired driving, failure to wear seat belts, aggressive driving, and distracted driving. More than 1300 tickets were issued in Durham Region as a result of the campaign, including 785 speeding infractions. The initiative is sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and Transport Canada.
