Hollywood Writers Get A New Deal

The Writers Guild of America reached a deal with Hollywood studio representatives early this morning, following marathon talks that have been ongoing since mid-March. The deal averts the possibility of the first writer's strike in almost ten years. The Guild wanted higher pay per episode, royalties for reruns, as well as a larger share of profits made from online streaming. A strike would have had a widespread affect on the creation of new programming, especially shows with topical content such as those seen on late-night TV.
