A subway explosion in Russia yesterday has claimed the lives of at least 14 people and left more than 45 wounded. Within two hours of the blast authorities found and deactivated another bomb at a second station. The entire St. Petersburg subway system was shut down and evacuated, resuming partial service after about six hours. The State Committee for National Security has released the name of one suspect behind the bombing, Akbarzhon Dzhalilov, who was born in 1995. It is not yet known whether the attack was motivated by Islamic extremists, Russian separatists, or other groups.
