The Durham Regional School Board has voted in favour of sweeping changes that will result in new start times for 28 schools. Six of these schools will have their hours shifted by 15 minutes; four schools in Whitby, Ajax, and Uxbridge will see shifts in the 30-45 minute range. The board says these changes will allow for more students to access transportation. By not having to send out additional buses, the board will save $1.2 million. Some concerned parents are speaking up about the changes, saying the increased child care costs will cost them thousands of dollars.
