Changes Possible For Durham Schools

The Durham Regional School Board is exploring sweeping changes that would affect buses and school start times. The adjustments could trim close to $2 million a year in budget costs. Some parents are upset that these changes could mean extra child care costs for their families. Most schools would see a 5-10 minute shift, but others would be bumped as much as 30-45 minutes later. Some advocates for the changes point to studies indicating that reducing early mornings for children and teens can maximize their concentration level throughout the day.
